Whilst being providing the electronics for SNT optical waveguides, the OPE proximity switch can also be used as a stand-alone optical scanner. The OPE range is less susceptible to interference from external light sources due to the use of pulsed infrared light and an optical high pass filter. Switching sensitivity is adjusted via a 1 or 10 turn potentiometer. OPE switches utilise short pulses and a fairly low frequency to achieve a high transmitting power giving a detection range upto 750mm and making it possible to detect poorly reflecting targets. It is a particular advantage when using thin optical waveguides which absorb a large amount of light. OPE sensors are fully watertight when used with FOY or FOI optical waveguides. |
